Emerging Glass Solutions Used in Architecture

Glass no more exists to provide transparency alone. You can also use it to diffuse light by purchasing a variant that is translucent or tinted. Secondly, that glass is weak and shatters on contact is now a myth. Of course, glass is not as strong as concrete or steel, but modern innovations have provided it with a substantial amount of strength, which was not the case before. There are many emerging variants of this material that can be used in renovating or constructing properties. Our list here can act as your starter kit for understanding the multifaceted nature of this stellar material.

If you are planning to reinvent your home or office and want to add a sense of openness to that space, then glass is the right material for you! A tonne of spatial innovation is possible if you know which type of glass does what and where it can be used best.

Switchable/Smart Glass

This elegant material just got more attractive! Smart glass uses modern-day technology to switch from opaque to transparent or vice versa. This type of glass can alternate the light transmitting through it by passing an electric current through it. While manufacturing smart glass, a film of liquid crystals in introduced to the pane which is sensitive to electrical current. With just the push of a button, this glass turns transparent.

The applications of such a product are manifold. It’s predominantly used for creating privacy and can be utilised in making partitions and/or windows at offices, hospitals and houses. It also works as electronic curtains providing privacy when needed.

High Performance Glass

This awe-inspiring variant is what gives modern-day glass skyscrapers their visual appeal. But that is not all; this variant is exceptional at sun control and reflects away a considerable amount of heat. Highly-reflective glass has a unique metallic coating on it which cuts off solar heat. This coating also provides a slight mirror-like effect on the glass’ surface. Ever wondered why the sky reflects so clearly on these gorgeous glass offices? It is because of this coating on the surface of ordinary glass, making it highly reflective.

Since this variant does not absorb much heat, it makes any structure very energy-efficient. This glass has maximum applications in office complexes. Employees working inside these structures get a beautiful view of their external surroundings along with ample daylight, but the people outside are unable to look inside.

Back Painted Glass

Imagine a coloured wall made of glass. Back-painted glass is available in countless colours. This type of glass has a silky and fluidic appeal to it. Back painted glass manufactured by coating one side with high-quality paints followed by an oven-curing process to lock in its unique features. Apart from the ornamental benefits, this coating also provides a great deal of strength to the glass, making it very durable and long-lasting. This type of glass requires zero-maintenance and is excellent for dealing with wet and humid surroundings. Back Painted glass has fantastic applications in turning your bathroom and kitchen into nothing less than a work of art. Use it to build bathroom walls, shower stalls, kitchen drawers or cabinets and rest assured that this variant won’t let you down.

Frosted or Acid-Etched Glass

This is a beneficial variant that allows for pristine light diffusion, thus, amplifying the elegance of any room it’s used in. Frosted glass is manufactured by taking a transparent sheet of glass and purposely blasting it with sand or by using acid for etching on it. The surface of this variant is not clear but rather translucent which allows for light to smoothly diffuse around it. The light scatters on this surface which obscures visibility.

This type of glass is mostly used in skylights, bedroom doors, office cabins and bathrooms. Talking further about skylights; solar rays can usher in aggressively during the morning time. The frosted glass used in skylight windows turns the harsh solar rays into gentle diffused ones.

Toughened Glass

This is a type of safety glass manufactured via a process in which standard glass is toughened through chemical or thermal tempering. It is desired mainly because of its durability, impact-resistance and safety. Even on rare occasions when toughened glass succumbs to an external impact, it does not shatter into sharp shards unlike standard glass but into small, blunt, pebble-like pieces incapable of causing injuries. This variant can be used on the ceiling-to-floor French windows or tall balcony doors. It also has wide applications in exhibition areas and window displays.

Contemporary glass skyscrapers have overwhelmed onlookers. Various high-profile residential dwellings, for instance, the renowned Ambani home called ‘Antilia’, have learned to harness this material at its very best. Invest in this great material by visiting AIS Glass today! We are leading India’s glass innovation by manufacturing glass solutions that cater to all aesthetic and functional needs. How Glass Handles Pressure of Aquatic Life Inside

Few sights in all of creation are capable of drawing out reverence and wonder like the mighty ocean and its raging waves. The view is not just spectacular but also calming and healing. So watching marine life in all its glory. People frequently go scuba diving to have a one-on-one with God’s exquisite creation, not just because it appeals to their eyes but also because it has the power to eliminate stress and induce a relaxed state of mind. And having a piece of that marine beauty right inside your home can have the same effect.

The Ethereal Beauty of Underwater Life

The awe-inspiring magnificence and grandeur of an ocean have left many of us gaping at it in wonder, sometimes for even hours on a stretch. Yet, it is just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the vast water bodies lie myriads of unique and beautiful creatures hidden from the naked eye. Well, though fishes are common, there is an unspeakable number of species that are highly uncommon, maybe some even waiting to be discovered. Moreover, it is nothing short of an otherworldly experience to have a one-on-one with one-of-a-kind marine creatures such as seahorses, octopuses, sharks and whales, starfish, feather stars, glaucus atlanticus, phytoplankton, jellyfish, coral reefs – the list is practically endless!

As aesthetically pleasing and breath-taking marine life is highly vital for the existence of all other species. After all, the oceans are the largest ecosystem on the earth, having 97% of the world’s water, generating half of the world’s oxygen, and providing at least a sixth of the animal protein consumed by people.

Though confining the glorious beauty of the Almighty’s creation to a box is unattainable, a piece of that majesty can be captured in the form of aquariums. From gargantuan oceanariums to portable in-house setups, today it is possible to get a glimpse of the underwater glory. Aquariums not only add an aesthetic touch to the spaces they are installed in but have been found to have calming effects on the human brain, especially those of children. Moreover, they are also useful for educational purposes – teaching kids about the value of marine life and instilling them with a sense of responsibility through caring for the marine creatures.

Glass: Still a Favourite Choice in Aquarium Building

Most aquariums you see housed in residential or commercial spaces are made of glass. Contrary to what people think, the compressive strength of glass is extremely high. 1000N/mm² = 1000MPa to be precise. What this means is to break a 1 cm cube of glass, a load of around 10 tonnes would be required.

In the case of deflection, one face of the glass is under compression while the other is in tension. The resistance of glass to breakage on deflection is known as its tensile strength. Glass typically has a tensile strength of 7 megapascals or 1000psi. But, theoretically, glass can have a tensile strength of around 17 gigapascals or 2,500,000 psi. This is due to the strong chemical bonds of glass. However, an important thing to note would be that surface flaws such as scratches and bubbles reduce the strength of glass to a significant extent. The process of chemical and thermal tempering can further increase the tensile strength of glass.

Moreover, glass aquariums are highly resistant to scratches of any kind. Though it is true that severe misuse can lead to blemishes on glass but most of the cleaning and touching will not affect glass aquariums in any way. This is especially useful since children often have the tendency to continually touch the aquariums out of fascination and to draw the attention of the marine creatures. Even in zoos, keeping a constant watch on people and kids touching the aquarium is not feasible – here, glass’ scratch-resistant feature comes handy.

Another important benefit of glass aquariums is that since glass panels are rigid, they do not suffer from any major fabrication flaws in the long-term and hence are long-lasting and durable. This rigidity of glass has another benefit – it can be manufactured to be perfectly flat tight with highly manufacturing tolerances. As a result, glass surfaces do not suffer from any distortions that might obscure the view. Most of the “distortions” you witness are but due to the refractive light coming off the water in the aquarium.

Glass is also designed to be UV-resistant. As a result, glass aquariums will not get brittle or lose their charm over time due to the UV rays of the sun or the aquarium lights. It can withstand the elements for years on end and simple cleaning from time to time is all that is required to get it back to its original shape. Moreover, it goes without saying that glass aquariums are ultra-clear – a major factor to consider while purchasing aquariums.

And finally, since glass can support significantly more than its own weight over distances, it can be placed on stands with an open-top or an incomplete one without any worries. However, one thing to keep in mind is to ensure that the stand on which the aquarium is to be placed must be levelled and strong enough to support the weight of glass.

Things You Need to Know About Toughened Glass

Glass is usually perceived to be fragile and breakable, and hence we often have second thoughts about using glass installations in our space. However, toughened glass proves this perception to be a myth by providing you with glass installations that can withstand high impacts. You can freely use toughened glass to decorate your space without worrying about your safety.
0078

What is Toughened Glass?

toughened or toughened glass is a processed glass that is much stronger than normal annealed glass. It is made by undergoing a process that uses heat to improve the strength of the glass. The surface of the glass is heated in a furnace at a very high temperature. Once the temperature of the glass reaches over 600 degrees Celsius, the glass is then cooled rapidly. Due to this process of rapid cooling, a centre tension is created in the glass that alters its physical property. The resulting sheet of glass is 4-5 times stronger than float glass.

In the event of an impact higher than the range that the glass can handle, the glass shatters into small, blunt pebble-like pieces. This ensures that there are no serious injuries, as in the case of normal glass. Therefore, toughened glass is also used as a safety glass in large buildings.

Therefore, if you’re looking to install glass that has high durability and provides you with high protection, toughened glass is the way to go. Also, since toughened glass lasts throughout the life of the structure it is installed in, you don’t have to worry about maintenance or frequent replacement.

Applications of Toughened Glass?

toughened glass is now widely used in commercial as well as home spaces due to its several functional and aesthetic qualities. Here are a few ways in which toughened glass can be used to transform your space.

  • Partitions

Besides their aesthetic appeal, toughened glass partitions are strong and can be used to create boundaries in your space. In offices, toughened glass partitions can be used to increase the amount of natural light entering the space while also maintaining privacy. toughened glass partition walls can also be used in conference rooms so that you can get a full view of the office while also ensuring that no one can hear you; thanks to the glass’ noise insulating properties. At home, toughened glass partitions are often used in bathrooms, between the shower area and the dressers. This ensures that you don’t wet the whole bathroom area and don’t feel claustrophobic at the same time.

  • Doors

Due to the various customisations available in toughened glass, you can install toughened glass doors to give your space a sleek look. You can use them indoors, on balconies, and even in shower cubicles. Installing toughened glass doors that open outdoors ensures that your space receives maximum natural light, making it brighter and more comfortable. You can also choose to install toughened glass for your office doors to make the space look airier and more welcoming. Due to their sturdy nature, you don’t have to worry about safety while installing them. They are the ideal combination of utility and class that one can install in any space. There are several uses of Toughened glass to make your place more secure and safe.

  • Windows

Windows are an essential component of every commercial space as well as every home. Every structure has at least one window installed for ventilation and lighting purposes. The lack of windows deprives the space of sufficient ventilation and natural light. You have to increase your use of artificial lighting to compensate for the lack of natural light. This leads to higher electricity bills. Hence, installing windows, specifically toughened glass windows, ensures that your space remains ventilated and full of light. Additionally, they also provide safety and security.

Why choose Toughened Glass?

Choosing toughened glass offers you numerous benefits. Even though toughened glass has the same visual qualities as annealed glass, it is 4-5 times stronger than the latter. The toughening process ensures that there is no alteration in its light transmission abilities. There is just an increase in the glass’s strength and its ability to withstand high impacts. toughened glass can withstand temperature changes up to 250 degrees Celsius without shattering. All these qualities make it extremely difficult to break toughened glass.

Conclusion:

Due to its several benefits, toughened glass is being actively installed in homes, offices, et al. At AIS Glass, we provide you with high quality tuffen glass that can be customised to fit your needs. AISStronglas is strong, durable, and can endure high impacts with ease. You can install our toughened glass on tabletops, shower cubicles, balustrades, shelves, shower enclosures, partitions, walls, facades, washbasins, and canopies. 4 Glass Types that Make Exterior Windows & Doors More Secure

From the standpoint of safety, both windows and doors are the most vulnerable entry points in any architectural unit. As a result, they are more susceptible to security attacks and intrusions. Not to mention, numerous glass manufacturers in the market promise unmatched quality and premier service but hardly deliver any.

Especially nowadays, when intrusions and thefts have become more commonplace, fears over security have become paramount. Therefore, the type of glass used in exterior doors and windows has become crucial in keeping our indoors safe from security breaches.

And speaking of enhanced security in residential and commercial spaces, here are the glasses that work the best.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass comprises two sheets of standard annealed glass fused together with a special interlayer of Poly Vinyl Butyral (PVB) in between. The resulting layered glass can easily resist impacts by absorbing impact shocks and resisting extreme degrees of penetration.

Consequently, any forced intrusions will be quite challenging to execute; this reduces theft attempts tremendously. In addition to improved security, laminated glass also offers additional advantages, as discussed below.

  • Acoustic Comfort

Given the levels of noise pollution in urban centers, the need for noise cancellation has become paramount. Fortunately, laminated glass can dampen outside noise for better noise reduction. Moreover, you can even request your glass manufacturers to include sound reduction interlayers in your fenestrations for additional soundproofing.

  • Solar Control

Combined with a heat-absorbing tint or low-E coating, laminated glass can reduce heat gain and bring down energy costs tremendously. Additionally, it also acts as a shield against solar glare. Based on the thickness of the glass, laminated glass can even resist harmful UV rays effectively.

  • Enhanced Visibility

Laminated glass surface usually has low visual distortions, so it appears virtually invisible. This allows the glass to reflect sharp images for greater clarity. Because of the enhanced visibility, laminated glass works exceptionally well for bay or picture windows, which many homebuyers shy away from over safety concerns.

Tempered Glass

Also known as toughened or safety glass, tempered glass is highly suitable for external windows and doors. Because of a quick-cooling manufacturing process, the glass is highly durable and resilient to impact, making it less likely to shatter upon breakage.

As a result, this  glass is a perfect choice for regions that experience heavy wind loads or thermal stress. Moreover, other than excellent impact resilience, tempered glass also offers benefits.

  • Heat Resistance

In comparison to ordinary glass, tempered glass offers higher thermal resistance compared to standard annealed glass. It can withstand high temperatures quickly, showing excellent heat control properties. As a result, you can enjoy greater heat insulation, as well as reduced energy costs.

  • Protection from UV Rays

Windows and doors manufactured with tempered glass can protect against harmful UV rays since it can absorb around 65% of the UV rays that fall on its surface. Additionally, you can also use window tints to improve the solar control properties of tempered glass.

  • Reduced Risk of Injury

Generally, tempered glass shows high resilience against impact, which is why many reinforced windows in both commercial and residential spaces use it. However, in case the glass ever breaks, the risk of injury is minimal as it breaks away in small, tiny pieces.

Heat Strengthened Glass

Heat-strengthened glass is a type of processed glass that offers better thermal resistance and is twice as tough as standard glass. Consequently, it befits security needs perfectly. Heat-strengthened glass also provides numerous advantages.

  • Unique Breakage System

Unlike other glasses, heat-strengthened glass cracks radially, from the breakage point to the edges of the glass, into large and sharp fragments. This creates a support system for the cracked pieces. As a result, it breaks into larger fragments that may remain in place but can still fall out.

  • Ability to Handle Thermal Shocks

Heat-strengthened glass can resist extreme thermal shocks and stress, which will typically break the standard glass. The glass can easily withstand thermal differentials of up to 130 degree Celsius.

Fire Resistant Glass

A type of laminated glass with a layer of intumescence, fire-resistant glass can easily withstand an extreme level of heat and prevent heat transfer. Primarily built to contain the spread of fire, the glass becomes a shield in unfortunate cases of fire breakouts. Fire-resistant glass also shows high resilience to impact and thermal stress.

Bottom Line

While these four glass types can efficiently minimise safety threats, investing in window locks, sensors or bars is an excellent way to enhance overall security. Designed specifically for safety concerns, these additional measures can help put your home and office security worries to rest.

Nonetheless, to secure superior-quality glazing solutions for your doors and windows, it is important to choose established and top security glass manufacturers such as AIS. We offer end-to-end solutions, from product selection and installation to after-sales support. Breathing Life Back into an Old Office Building: A Case Study on Retrofitting Glass

Architecture, today, is exceeding the limits of imagination with the help of science and technology. Where once glass was a mere brittle material for windows now lies a plethora of possibilities in manufacturing and processing extremely functional glass for sound reduction, security, privacy, aesthetics, and most importantly, heat reduction. But the buck doesn’t stop here.
It is also possible to optimize the dysfunctional glass systems of existing and functioning buildings with a special variant of glass such as the AIS Renew which completely transforms the energy consumption scenario of the space. Retrofitting buildings is a specialty at AIS, and it is precisely what we achieved for the 6-storied office building which is the focus of our case study.
Problem
It is no doubt that solar and thermal control glass products are any architect’s go-to solutions for creating an energy efficient space. And energy efficiency is the primary requirement of an office where creating the most comfortable and sustainable environment for employees is paramount for productivity.
A six-storied office building featuring glazed windows prominently was facing issues due to increased energy consumption. The requirement was to convert the windows into more energy efficient envelopes, thus enabling visual and thermal comfort. However, converting an old/existing building built with a low performance glass by the traditional method of pulling down the existing glass façade and building afresh is very expensive.
Solution

In order to tackle this problem without disturbing and interfering with the day-to-day functioning of the building, the AIS technical team proposed our retrofitting solution, AIS Renew, as part of the AIS 4G solutions. AIS Renew is a unique product which is attached on top of an existing glass window and converts it into an energy saving insulated glass window – all in no time at all.
In order to do this, a particular AIS Renew glass model (Ecosense Exceed as mentioned in the table above) was compared against pared with clear 6 mm glass used in the existing building. An analysis was done on the basis of shade, visible light transmission, solar heat gain coefficient, and U-value.
Further, a building-specific climate simulation was also performed for the existing glass and AIS Renew glass. The results of this analysis are mentioned below.

Results

As is clear from the reference table, AIS Renew with Ecosense Exceed performed better than the clear single glazed units and double glazed units in terms of cooling energy reduction ratio % and radiant temperature.  In brief, selecting AIS Renew for retrofitting would result in:

  1. Reduced solar gain in summer thereby reaching the set temperature sooner, thus reducing the load on AC operation.
  2. Insulation of the building against heat due to its lower U-value by influencing long wave infrared radiation while keeping the space cool in summer and warm in winter.
  3. A shorter payback period compared to extra glass cost which would have been used for replacement.

Thus, with a thoroughly scientific analysis of the retrofit, glass manufacturers like AIS ensure the most ideal retrofitting glass solution for your office building, resulting in substantial energy, cost and time savings.

How Glass Protects You from UV Rays

Did you know that excessive exposure to ultraviolet or UV radiation can cause skin cancer? While we cannot see the UV rays, they have been found to be harmful – not only can these waves kill off viruses, but even healthy body cells; at the least, cause them to mutate. Yet a vast number of people remain unaware of how harmful UV rays are in truth.

This is especially true of India, where summer wreaks havoc every year for months on end. While vitamin D is essential, excessive exposure to the sun can cause serious harm.

Here’s How UV Rays Harm Us

UV radiations include a wide spectrum of rays. There are primarily three types of UV rays which the sun emits, as mentioned below.

UVA Rays – About 90% of the rays that reach the surface of the Earth are UVA rays. Also known long-wave light, UVA rays can even penetrate the second layer of skin. These rays mostly cause sun damage, skin ageing, and wrinkling. But excessive exposure to UVA can lead to skin cancer as well.

UVB Rays – Medium-wavelength UVB rays deeply affect the topmost skin layers. Unprotected skin can become red and burn under their exposure. However, most UVB rays do not reach the Earth’s surface.

UVC Rays – Considered to be the most harmful of UV rays, UVC rays do not even reach the surface of the Earth. These rays are fully absorbed by the Ozone layer.

Of the radiation spectrum, UVA rays cause the most harm as they are not filtered by the Ozone layer. In addition to skin cancer, UV rays also cause eye issues, sun damage, premature ageing, weakened immune system, and more.

Even from a 15-minute solar exposure, one can suffer from sunburn, tanning, and skin reddening. Such harmful effects inevitably put forth serious questions about safety and wellness under the sun.

Naturally, there’s a dire need for a solution to this problem, especially since escaping these harmful rays may become quite for those living or working in tropical regions, in areas that receive direct sunlight, and the likes.

Can Glass Block UV Rays?

Put simply; the answer is both ‘yes’ and ‘no.’ Glass is a complex element which can be processed to befit any need, even heat resistance. However, in its natural state, glass has a very high surface emissivity, which means it can absorb and emit solar radiation completely.

To combat this issue, glass can be treated chemically for enhanced solar control and heat resistance properties. Glass can also be tinted or coated to block UV rays to some extent, especially in residential and commercial spaces.

For enhanced thermal comfort, you can invest in the following types of glass.

Low-E Glass

Low-E glass can block both UV and infrared rays of the sun. But visiblelight can pass easily. This is because it has ‘low’ emissivity. Consequently, the glass lowers the amount of solar radiation absorbed and transmitted. Outside heat is reduced tremendously.

For best benefits, you can install Low-E glass for skylights or bay windows to keep out harmful UV rays and still enjoy ample daylight. On the other hand, glass does not let the internal heat to move out, so you can also enjoy warmer winters.

Solar Control Glass

A protective oxide-based coating is applied to solar control glass, which reflects away most of the UV radiation. It also prevents excessive solar glare and offers overall thermal comfort. In this way, solar control glass keeps the indoors cooler and cheerful.

Solar control glass is best suited for window use. You can install it in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc. and enjoy excellent thermal comfort. It will also lower your reliance on AC as well as heating systems for energy-efficiency.

Solar-Low-E Glass

A combination of low-E and solar control glass, solar-low-E glass has a protective solar coating. It can reflect away harmful UV rays, infrared rays, and solar glare. At the same time, solar-low-E glass keeps the outside heat from seeping in or inside heat from seeping out to create a comfortable ambience indoors.

You can use solar-low-E glass for both residential and commercial applications. Keep out harmful UV radiation and benefit from improved energy efficiency. You can use the glass for façades, walkways, balconies, doors, internal partitions, windows, and much more.

To Sum Up

Many people continue to rely on curtains and blinds to prevent heat entrance. However, these methods not only block the harmful UV rays, but they also block the natural light. For a more ‘permanent’ solution, homeowners should turn to high-performance glass instead.

As you know, prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause severe damage to your eyes and skin. Not to mention, excessive sun exposure can cause furniture and upholstery to fade, glass windows to crack, raise indoor heat, and whatnot. But with proper glass applications, you can cut down UV radiation significantly.

Glass Spiral Stairway for Elegant Interiors

Imagine floating up the stairs, instead of climbing them! It’s possible with a glass spiral stairway. A spiral staircase made up of glass is nothing short of a masterpiece, and what’s more, is that this structure is a great addition regardless of the size of your home.

Glass stairwells make your interiors more elegant as compared to the traditional opaque steps. But, before adding sophistication through these structures, find out the type of glass best suited for spiral stairs.

What Type of Glass Should I Use for Glass Spiral Stairway?

If you are considering a shiny modern spiral staircase, you should opt for toughened or laminated glass with a minimum thickness of 27 to 30 inches. Are you wondering how these glass types are different from standard panes? Let’s find out.

Toughened glass – Also called tempered glass, these surfaces are manufactured for strength and durability. A standard annealed glass surface is rolled inside a furnace and heated at 600° C. After which, it is cooled down rapidly. Doing this reduces the temperature of the outer surface of glass faster than its inner layer, which creates tension, thus making the pane more tenacious. Toughened glass is at least five times stronger than standard panes. And, is an excellent option for assembling spiral glass staircase.

However, a critical thing to remember while choosing toughened glass for the spiral staircase is that these panes cannot be re-worked upon once they are heat tempered. All customisations, like filleting, cutting to size, drilling, etc. is done beforehand.

Laminated Glass – Another great choice for your spiral glass steps is laminated glass. This type comprises a sandwiched PVB inner layer which strengthens the surface in case of breakage. Laminated glass is safe to use for your spiral staircase, as it can withstand a significant amount of weight. Even if it develops a crack, only on severe impact, this pane does not shatter into sharp jagged shards. It breaks into small and blunt pebble-like pellets and ensures the safety of people around.

Why Choose Spiral Glass Staircase?

Sure, glass stairwells look mesmerising, but are they practical? Yes, they are, as they come with several benefits that are listed below.

Sense of Openness

In general, glass provides a great deal of openness to any space. Therefore, if you are short on square footage, a spiral glass staircase is often a more elegant solution than a traditional concrete stairwell. These structures require a lesser amount of space but brighten up cramped corners where usually stairwells lie.

Aesthetically Appealing

It’s no secret that spiral glass steps and balustrades are elegant, contemporary and refined. They are often featured in countless design and décor magazines for these very reasons. Also, contrary to popular belief, glass spiral steps are customisable to a large extent. For instance, if you want your décor to carry both modern and vintage elements, install a glass spiral staircase with wooden balustrades. However, if you are looking for a more contemporary outcome, a full glass spiral staircase is the way to go.

Maintenance Free

Glass, as a material, demands negligible maintenance and doesn’t show wear even after years of constant usage. All it takes to care for an elegant spiral glass staircase is a wipe down during your everyday mopping routine, to shine up like a new penny.

Damage Resistant

If you think glass spiral steps are fragile, think again! As mentioned earlier, toughened and laminated glass panes are tenacious and can endure a tonne of pressure comfortably. Furthermore, these surfaces do not get scratched, chipped or dented easily and are mostly resistant to any other kind of damage.

Weather Resistant

No amount of moisture has any impact on glass spiral staircases. They are built to last and do not accumulate dust, grime, etc. Also, glass is not corrosive or prone to termite infestation. All of this makes spiral steps made from glass a “fit and forget” structure.

The Bottom Line

Imagine a snug yet gorgeous spiral glass staircase standing tall at one corner of your room. It will be a delight for anybody walking on it. Are you looking to liven up your surroundings with this magnificent structure, but don’t know who to turn to for the right quality of glass and installation? If yes, your search ends at AIS Glass. Enhance Office Safety with Fire Rated Glass

It goes without saying that fire safety should be one of the top priorities of any commercial structure. If you own an office, you are responsible for the safety and security of your employees. Therefore, it is critical to ensure that you have a fire protection strategy which is also compliant with commercial safety regulations. And, the key to successful fire protection strategy begins with fire-rated or fire-resistant glass.

What Is Fire Rated Glass?

As the name suggests, fire rated or resistant glass plays a crucial role in protecting a structure in the unfortunate event of a fire. The degree of protection varies depending on the type of fire rated glass you choose but, in general, even the most basic fire-resistant glass stands guard against the spread of smokes and flames. Certain types of fire-rated glass also offer a high degree of insulation against the heat of a fire. Most building regulations across the world have chalked out compliances for fire safety to ensure employer and employee safety.

How does Fire Rated Glass Play a Critical Role in Office Safety?

Here are the top 4 reasons why you must install fire-resistant glass in your workplace.

Fire Containment

The most apparent benefit of fire-rated glass is that it can effectively contain a fire, hot flames, and smoke, thus minimising their spread. However, it is a little-known fact that this type of glass undergoes various treatments and tests before it achieves a fire rating. Fire-rated glass also comes with a stipulated period of protection. The protection duration offered depends on the European Classification Standards (EN 13501) listed below.

E Fire Rated Glass

This type is perhaps the most basic fire rated glass. It can effectively contain flames and smoke for a substantial amount of time but is incapable of preventing the transmission or transfer of heat radiating from the source.

EW Fire Rated Glass

This type is the second category of fire rated glass that offers effective containment of flames and smoke for a great deal of time. But, it also provides some level of insulation or resistance from the heat radiating through the source.

EI Fire Rated Glass

This type is perhaps the gold standard of fire-resistant glass that offers a complete spectrum of protection. Meaning, it does not only keep people safe from fire and smoke but also fully protects them from the heat radiating from the fire source.

Longer Evacuation Duration

Various classifications of fire-rated glass listed above provide anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes for people to evacuate stricken premises and escape to safety. This time window is often enough to help evacuate a great many number of employees. Fire-rated glass can be cleverly incorporated in doors, windows, walls, and partitions to highlight fire escape passages and exits so as to ensure active escape.

Aesthetically Appealing

If you think that fire-rated glass is a purely utilitarian product, think again! These surfaces offer maximum security without compromising on the aesthetic appeal of your office. Heat resistant glass is a far better alternative to opaque window blinds or screens. Much like any other glass surface, it awards your office a sense of openness which makes the entire floor look larger. Choose from a range of designs or customise patterns for office partitions, doors, and windows – the choice is yours!

Easy to Install

It is a common myth that something as tenacious as fire-rated glass will most likely be challenging to install. The truth, however, is far from it! Fire-resistant glass can be customised into any shape or size. Therefore, you don’t need to alter your window dimensions for complete fenestration. Additionally, fire rated glass offers high-quality transparency, which means plenty of natural light ushering into your space. This feature reduces the need for artificial lighting, thus bringing down your office’s electricity bills significantly.

The Bottom Line

In a nutshell, fire rated glass is a practical, cost-effective, and aesthetically appealing product that ensures no harm to human life in the unfortunate event of a fire inside or outside your office premises. This type of glass is also a key component in building modern commercial structures as it greatly harnesses the benefits of natural light and visibility.

Are you looking to select the right kind of fire-rated glass for your next office fenestration project? Architectural Elegance and Efficiency: The Role of Glass in Modern Building Designs

Glass is an incredibly versatile material used extensively in building construction. This article explores the unique properties that make architectural glass so popular, including transparency, insulation, strength, recyclability, and fire/chemical resistance.

Read on to learn about the different types of Glass used in buildings, from laminated and energy-efficient to privacy and tinted Glass. Discover how innovations in glass manufacturing are creating new possibilities for architectural design.

The Unique Properties of Glass for Buildings

Glass is a highly versatile material for modern building construction due to its aesthetic appeal and functional properties, which offer architects a great deal of design flexibility.

1. Transparency

The transparent quality of Glass is its most defining feature. Unlike walls or barriers, Glass is a unique material that lets you see through its solid walls.

Glass allows natural light to enter the room and makes the whole space feel more open and. Glass can be used to make windows, walls, balconies, and other parts of a building look beautiful and modern.

2. Insulating Abilities

In addition to transmitting light, Glass not only lets light through but can also help control the temperature and noise levels in buildings. Some types of glass have special layers that provide extra insulation, which can save energy and lower electricity bills.

Additionally, Insulation glass can filter out harmful UV rays, keeping you safe and comfortable indoors.

3. Strength and Safety

Even though the glass looks fragile, it’s quite strong and long-lasting. There are special ways to make it even tougher, like heating it up and then cooling it down quickly. When this is done, the glass can manage heavy stresses without bending or breaking.

And if this toughened glass breaks it won’t break into dangerous pieces but instead into small, safe pieces. This makes it a great choice for places where there are lots of people. Some kinds of glass can even help stop fires from spreading.

4. Recyclability

Glass is a great choice for building things because it’s good for the environment. When you’re done with it, you can recycle it easily; it gets melted down and turned into new things without needing any extra stuff. Hence, it saves a lot of energy and keeps a lot of waste out of the trash.

5. Chemical Resistance

Glass exhibits high resistance to chemicals. Acid solutions or other corrosive substances which damage other substances leave Glass unaffected. This property allows extensive use of glass machines in scientific laboratories and industrial facilities dealing with hazardous compounds.

Types of Architectural Glass

Specialised techniques give rise to an array of unique glass products for different building applications.

1. Laminated Glass

Layers of glass bonded by a transparent vinyl interlayer give laminated Glass enhanced strength and shatter resistance. The vinyl also dampens noise transmission.

Common architectural uses include glass for buildings‘ exteriors, glass floors, skylights, interior décor.

2. Energy-Efficient Glass

This “smart” Glass contains specialised surface coatings which modulate light and radiation passage to improve energy efficiency. Solar heat gain is reduced while allowing abundant natural light to enter. Use cuts HVAC costs, benefiting commercial property owners and residential consumers alike.

3. Privacy Glass

Electronically switchable Glass can change from transparent to translucent to opaque. This adjustability affords privacy control for interior spaces. Just a click of a remote alters the amount of visibility. Privacy glass is growing in popularity for offices, hospitals, homes, and anywhere variable transparency is desired.

4. Tinted Glass

Adding colourant minerals while manufacturing infuses Glass with tint while preserving other physical qualities. Tinted glass cuts glare and boosts aesthetics. Using in hotels, restaurants, lobbies, atriums, and entryways make a stylish design statement.

5. Toughened / Tempered Glass

Tempered or toughened Glass undergoes controlled heating and then rapid cooling during production. This compresses the surface layers while putting the glass core under compression for vastly improved tensile strength.

When broken, it fractures into small, rounded bits rather than sharp shards. Abundant architectural uses include glass doors, partitions, facades, stair railings, and flooring.

Conclusion

Ongoing advances make Glass more versatile and multi-functional than ever, allowing architects to exercise great creativity. Consumers appreciate Glass for its aesthetic enhancements to living and working spaces as well as its sustainability advantages. How the AIS Dark Green UV Cut Glass Prepares/Endows Your Car for Indian Conditions

India is a hot country with temperatures averaging 35 to 37 degrees and even crossing 45 degrees in some areas. It is no wonder then that car owners here desire attributes that ensure lesser heat inside the cabin. Apart from the thermal discomfort accentuated in tropical summers, the sunlight also transmits harmful UV radiation which is detrimental for our skin and the cause behind various skin-related disorders. Moreover, high temperatures also put a strain on the engine and battery and impede optimum functionality of the air conditioner.

In its penchant to offer better solutions for Indian conditions, AIS has worked extensively to develop a unique offering called Dark Green UV Cut glass. Apart from reducing the thermal load inside the cabin, it also eliminates the UV radiation by more than 80 percent. It perfectly complies with the Indian regulation for light transmission of 50 percent for side lights and provides a life-long solution, unlike sun-control films which have been banned for use in India.
Here are some product highlights –
1. The dark green glass combination is enabled to cut more than 82% UV rays entering the car, hence protecting people inside the car from a number of harmful skin diseases and ailments including sunburn, premature ageing of the skin, eye damage and skin cancer.
2. Unlike the normal green glass, this glass leads to a drop of close to 2 degrees in cabin temperature.
3. With its ability to curb down the heat accumulating inside the car, this UV protection glass can also reduce the usage of air-conditioning by 10-to-15%. This s decrease the load on the compressor and thereby the engine, which improves fuel efficiency and noticeably lowers your monthly fuel expenses. It helps in decreasing the carbon footprint as there are lesser carbon dioxide emissions.
4. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can tarnish the car’s upholstery besides other things of necessity in the car. With its ability to check the amount of heat getting into the interior of the vehicle, these glasses are better equipped to protect interiors of the car from repeated exposure to high temperatures.
Fully compliant with Indian rules regarding car glass, the Dark Green UV Cut glass is yet another product innovation by AIS that perfectly suits Indian climate.

Your guide to a safer lead-free mirror glass

Today’s consumers (or customers) are always on the lookout for environment- friendly options in the market. They are aware of the long-term benefits of embracing environment-friendly products vis-à-vis their counterparts. What if you can give back to the environment by selecting a copper-free mirror glass for your brand new home?

The mirror is one of the essential accessories when you upgrade to your bathroom, wardrobes, or cupboards. When using the mirror, you would always want a distortion-free image. How do you find the perfect environment-friendly mirror for your home? Though there are different types of glasses available in the market, none can beat the offerings of copper-free or lead-free mirrors. Here’s everything you want to know about this lead-free glass alternative.

What is a lead-free mirror?

Ordinary mirrors manufactured using copper or lead are non-environment-friendly products and tend to produce distorted images. Copper-free or Lead-free mirrors are the most-modern mirrors that are manufactured without using copper or lead.

As there is no copper usage in the manufacturing process, copper-free mirror glass is resistant to humidity and corrosion.

Conventional glass mirror vs Lead-free glass mirror

Corrosion in conventional mirrors begins typically from the mirror’s edges and spreads inside like an infection. The corrosion factor is more prevalent when glass mirrors are used in bathrooms. On the other hand, lead-free glass mirrors are resistant to corrosion and ageing.

Environment-friendliness and humidity resistance are the two most important factors for choosing lead-free glass mirrors over other options for glass mirrors. A lead-free glass mirror is more durable than a conventional mirror since its surface is resistant to harsh cleaning products.

Lead-free glass mirrors from AIS are known to last up to three times longer than conventional mirrors.

If you are looking to bid farewell to the distorted reflections from ordinary mirrors, you should opt for lead-free glass mirrors.

Critical Applications of lead-free glass mirrors

Lead-free or Copper-free glass mirrors can be used in a wide range of applications. Here are some of the standard applications of these environment-friendly glass mirrors:

  • Showrooms that are looking for a more spacious appearance
  • Display cases
  • Bathrooms
  • Sliding doors for cupboards, wardrobes, etc.

In a nutshell, bathrooms, homes, offices, retail spaces, restaurants, etc. are ideal places for lead-free mirrors.

Why choose lead-free glass mirrors from AIS

Copper-free mirrors from AIS are crafted to perfection using superior materials and state-of-the-art technology. The mirrors are manufactured using advanced Belgian technology from Glaverbel. Distorted images would be a thing of the passé with AIS mirrors that deliver high optical clarity.

Mirrors from AIS, equipped with copper-free coatings, make the mirror look new even after years of usage. With improved resistance to harsh cleaning products, lead-free mirrors from AIS last three-times longer than conventional mirrors.

Mirrors manufactured by AIS adhere to IS 3438, EN 1036, and ASTM C 1503 manufacturing standards. Irrespective of where they need to be installed, you have the option to choose from a wide range of colours – Clear, Bronze, Grey, and Aqua Blue.

Conclusion

When you plan to pick up new mirrors for your home or business, you should choose environment-friendly options free from lead and copper. Copper-free mirrors are not only better for the environment but are also corrosion-free and resistant to humidity.

Unlike conventional mirrors that produce distorted images, lead-free mirrors are best known to deliver crystal clear images. Lead-free glass mirrors from AIS are best-suited for usage in bathrooms, showrooms, display cases, and more.

3 Best Glass Types for Bathroom Renovation You Should Choose

Among all the rooms and spaces in a home, bathrooms often undergo frequent renovations, whether it is changing tiles, or replacing bath fittings. Today, more and more homeowners are trying to build sleek, stylish, and airy bathrooms that become a salient feature of their home. To aid them in this mission, glass as a material, whether in the form of toughened glass, laminated glass or any other glass, is becoming increasingly popular.

One might believe that using glass – often associated with transparency – in a bathing area, which is naturally considered a highly private space, is contradictory. However, thanks to advanced processing techniques, the field of glass manufacturing has evolved into highly functional innovations that effectively address concerns such as safety and privacy quite deftly. Learn more about the glass manufacturing process here.

Looking for the best glass solutions for your bathroom renovation? Here are three types of glasses you should go for.

3 Types of Glasses for Your Bathroom Renovation

1. Tempered Glass for Shower Doors and Partitions

One of the primary ways to renovate a bathroom is to separate the bathing area from the rest of the space. This can be achieved through shower cubicles and enclosures that look sleek, modern, and luxurious. They are made of highly impact-resistant toughened glass, especially for doors, to provide adequate safety to occupants. After all, bathroom floors are often wet and slippery, which increases the risk of slipping. To reduce the risk of injury and damage to bathroom fittings, using tempered glass in shower doors, cubicles, and partitions is highly recommended. The installation of tempered glass ensures enhanced durability and safety, making it an excellent choice for modern bathroom renovations.

2. Frosted Glass for Windows and Shower Enclosures

To enhance privacy inside a bathroom without compromising on aesthetics, you should opt for frosted glass such as AIS Krystal, which limits visibility while still allowing light to pass through. Frosted glass is created through sandblasting or acid etching, resulting in a translucent and hazy surface. This makes frosted glass an ideal material for bathroom windows, partitions, and even shower enclosures.

3. Lacquered Glass for Cabinets and Shelves

Looking to add some colour to your bathroom glass? If this is your primary requirement, you can introduce vibrant highlights to the space using lacquered glass such as AIS Décor. This type of coloured glass has one surface painted with a premium hue, ensuring a high-quality and long-lasting finish. Using lacquered glass in cabinets, shelves, and other small installations creates a stylish and elegant bathroom aesthetic. Additionally, AIS Décor is moisture- and heat-resistant, making it ideal for the demanding bathroom environment.

Conclusion

A well-planned bathroom renovation is not just about aesthetics—it is also about choosing materials that offer the right balance of style, safety, privacy, and durability. Glass plays a key role in modern bathroom design, helping create bright, spacious, and elegant interiors while meeting functional needs. If you are wondering which glass is best for bathroom partition, the answer depends on your priorities such as safety, privacy, and design preference.

From the strength and safety of tempered glass in shower enclosures, to the privacy offered by frosted glass, and the vibrant appeal of lacquered glass, each option serves a unique purpose in enhancing your bathroom space. Benefits of One-way Glass

One-way glass, also known as a two-way mirror or half-silvered mirror, appears to be a mirror from one side but allows light to pass through from the other. One-way glass is created by coating a glass surface with a thin layer of metal, usually silver, which reflects light on one side while allowing it to pass through on the other. This technology has many applications, from privacy and security to architecture and entertainment. Let’s talk about its benefits:

Privacy:

One of the most popular applications for one-way glass is privacy. It’s often used in homes, businesses, and government buildings to maintain privacy while allowing light to enter a space from the outside. For example, one-way glass can be used in interior offices or conference rooms to allow natural light while maintaining confidentiality.

Moreover, they can also be used in cars or buses to create a private space for passengers while still allowing the driver to see through the windshield.

Security:

It’s popularly employed in banks, airports, police stations, prisons, government buildings, and other high-security areas to create a barrier between the public and sensitive areas while still allowing security personnel to see what’s going on.

For example, one-way glass is often used in jewelry stores and other high-end retail establishments to allow security personnel to monitor transactions from a discreet location.

Energy Efficiency:

Allowing natural light in while blocking outside air helps keep buildings cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This reduces the need for artificial lighting and heating or cooling systems, resulting in lower utility bills.

It’s also beneficial for green buildings. They help minimize solar gain by blocking direct sunlight from entering a space without sacrificing natural light. This helps create a more comfortable environment with less reliance on electricity or other forms of energy.

Architectural Design:

They can also be used to add a creative and unique touch to any room. Half-silvered mirrors can be used as part of an interesting architectural feature, such as a partition wall or window, to create visual interest while still allowing light to pass through.

Moreover, they are often employed by architects and interior designers to maximize the use of space in homes and businesses. Using one-way glass allows rooms to appear larger than they actually are since it allows for more natural light without reducing privacy. Additionally, one-way glass helps reduce echoes since it absorbs sound.

Medical Applications:

One-way glass has also been used in medical facilities and laboratories for observation purposes. For example, scientists use it to observe experiments without disturbing the environment or affecting results.

It’s also beneficial for hospitals and other healthcare centers since it allows doctors or nurses to monitor patients while maintaining their privacy. Additionally, they are often used on ambulances and other emergency vehicles, allowing paramedics to assess a patient while still being able to see outside.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, one-way glass can be a great asset in many different types of applications due to its privacy, security, and energy efficiency benefits. From homes and businesses to entertainment and medical facilities, one-way glass provides an innovative solution that can help improve efficiency and comfort. With its versatility, one-way glass can be used in countless ways to make a space more secure and energy efficient while still allowing natural light in.

It’s no wonder that one-way glass is becoming increasingly popular around the world. Now more than ever, it’s an essential feature of any modern space.

Enhance the Look of Your Home with Glass Shower Doors

Are you interested in changing the way your bathroom looks? Perhaps, you’re looking to transform the tacky, dingy, and stuffy space to give it a brighter, open, and airy outlook. In that case, you need to consider installing glass shower doors in your bathroom. These shower doors can provide you with that sleek and sophisticated ambience and will most definitely make an impression on your guests.

Moreover, glass shower doors are quite the rage in contemporary designs. They are not only perfect for an improvement in aesthetic style but also offer excellent functionality. With glass doors, you can turn your entire bathroom space around to look ultra-modern. And let’s not forget how important it is to have a showering space that suits your sensibilities. Most of us start and end our day with a hot or cold shower. So, even if it means splurging in some vanity, you cannot deny the fact that glass shower doors are a luxury that you can’t miss out on.

In this article, we will explore the various ways in which glass shower doors can enhance the look of your home.

Rustic or Modern, They’re Highly Flexible

Let’s face it – some of us do not want to jump on the wagon of modern aesthetics. If you prefer a rather vintage or rustic vibe for your bathroom interiors, modern fittings just won’t do. However, with glass shower doors, you get an exquisite fusion that will satisfy your interior style while providing you with the benefits of advanced functionality.

You can fit glass doors with any sort of interior scheme. That’s the beauty of these doors. You may do a whole 360-degree transformation and go for an ultra-sleek finish. Or, you could bring rustic elements and combine them with contemporary ones. Since the doors are made up of glass, they are suitable for all kinds of lighting solutions. You can play around with that idea and create the vibe you desire. With good-quality glass shower doors, your shower space will certainly be levelled-up.

Framed or Frameless: Why It Matters

Glass shower doors can either be framed or frameless and depending on the type, they can influence the kind of maintenance they will require. Frameless glass doors are thicker in comparison due to which they are also sturdier. And if you are looking for a more stylish option, frameless glass doors take the win. They are also available in a variety of option to match with your interior design.

On the other hand, framed glass doors provide better stability because of the metal frame surrounding the glass. These doors are built watertight so they are less likely to leak. In case of a shower spray, the water remains inside the glass doors. Framed glass doors are also easy to install irrespective of the shower material. Keeping these differences in mind, you can choose glass shower doors that suffice your design and maintenance needs.

Designs that will Floor You (No Pun Intended)!

Having the option of a wide variety of designs is always a plus point. And glass shower doors are highly versatile and equitable choices that come in various designs. This means you get to have more freedom with the design element. You can choose the right door type with a type of glass that compliments it the best. This will help you create the ultimate interior look with a dash of personal touch.

You may opt for by-pass doors, which are sliding doors that are good for stand-alone or tub/shower configurations. Another good option is steam doors that are built air-tight to double up as a steam room. They will add much value to your amenity. For a smaller bathroom, neo-angle doors can be a good choice as they can be built into a corner. Because of this, they open out into the room cutting across a 90-degree angle and save space. Multiple types of glass shower doors can fit your aesthetic style. The choice, however, is all yours.

Expansive Room and Brighter Lighting

Bathrooms tend to be one of the smaller spaces in your home. Because of this, they can suffer from poor lighting or improper ventilation. #SheIsMadeOfGlass: How AIS Glass’ 2019 Women’s Day Campaign Got Viral

An epitome of grace and dignity, she enriches our lives in the manner nobody else can. Her uniqueness and exceptional talents make her the champion of all odds, whether at home or work. Celebrating her indomitable spirit coupled with her sheer strength, AIS Glass commemorated the true essence of womanhood on this year’s Women’s Day, identifying with her at all levels. And this was the core of our Women’s Day Campaign – She is made of Glass – which encapsulated the hearts of millions.
On this special day, honoring the indomitable spirit of women, we decided to interview women architects who AIS Glass is proud to have worked with. Today they are well-known names in their field who are breaking ground and inspiring young women professionals to chase their passions. On being asked about what they felt about AIS Glass’ social media campaign #SheIsMadeOfGlass and their response was nothing less than an enthusiastic affirmation.
Expressing her approval, Ar. Tejaswini Pandit of Hiten Sethi & Associates commented that AIS has aptly captured the versatility of glass and given complete justice to the idea of womanhood at the same time through this campaign. Ar. Apoorva Sharma of Hafeez Contractor Architects goes on to say that it is a unique and interesting concept, and appreciates how it brilliantly brings out the uniqueness of AIS glass products by likening them with the unique qualities of women.

We rounded up the occasion with a cake cutting ceremony with each of the architectural firms we celebrated the day with. We also presented a memento to each one of the principal women architects to honour them and their work in the field of architecture.
Indeed, it gives us much happiness and satisfaction now to share that #SheIsMadeOfGlass became viral soon after it went live on social media. It attracted an enthusiastic response with many among the social media audience expressing intrigue and approval and many more getting inspired to render their own thoughts creatively on the same. Ar. Kavita Talib of Soyuz Talib Architects Pvt Ltd is one such lady who has penned a beautiful poem on this theme. Knowing that it struck a chord among the active female citizenry of social media, we feel great to have connected with our audience successfully through this campaign.

So why do we say she’s made of glass?

  • Protective

No matter whichever role she plays in our life, she is always protective. We may underestimate her strength, but she’ll never let any harm touch us. Just like glass.

  • Clarity of vision

She’s able to see through the confusion. She is prescient and unpretentiously so. When in doubt, seek help in her tremendous clarity of vision, and she’ll never let you down. Just like glass.

  • Tough

You may think she is weak, that it is easy to break her. But you must know that she will be anything but that once she makes up her mind. Just like glass.

  • Transparent

She is not very good at concealing things because she knows that it is better not to. She will let you have a clear view of the world if you’re seeking it. Just like glass.
We’re in 2019 now and today’s woman is breaking ground every day to build smart and innovate for change. At AIS Glass as well, there is a constant endeavour to redefine glass, making it smarter and futuristic for home and workplace settings. And that is how we got thinking that #SheIsMadeOfGlass in a whole new way.

Importance of Sound Proof Glass Solutions in Offices

Noise-free interiors are a priority for offices since they are usually located on busy streets bustling with activities. Loud noises seep into the office space through doors and windows causing disturbances. This results in low productivity and efficiency of the employees and disrupts the daily operations of the business. Hence, cutting out noise pollution in office space is crucial.

Besides dampening the outside noise, ensuring sound insulation indoors is also essential. It is very important to keep the confidentiality of cabin discussions and conference room decisions. This is why installing sound insulating glass indoors is just as crucial. One of the top glass manufacturers, AIS Glass, offers high-quality soundproof glass to maintain privacy and ensure the peace and tranquillity of the office space.
Laminated glass has become an increasingly popular glass choice, both in offices and homes, for sound insulation. It is manufactured by attaching two or more glass sheets together with a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) in between them. This unique manufacturing process imparts various beneficial features to the glass. Together, the multiple glass panes and the resin sandwiched in-between prevent noise from seeping through, unlike ordinary glasses. Once installed in office, you can have clear and effective communication in meetings and conferences.
For maximum sound insulation, AIS Acousticglas is the ideal glass solution. This laminated glass type is meticulously designed to reduce noise pollution at offices and homes. The specialised PVB layer reduces noise pollution by up to 90% and hence, the glass type is widely used in boardrooms, partitions, and facades. For homes, offices, and shops in high traffic zones or near railway-lines and airports, AIS Acousticglas is very effective in minimising noise pollution.
Besides noise reduction, laminated glass is very sturdy and provides safety from theft and burglary. The PVB layer acts as an adhesive and holds the glass together when shattered, and prevents injuries from glass shards. Hence, it is widely used for security purposes. When laminated glass is installed in doors and windows, gaining access to indoors is very difficult for burglars. Additionally, when this window glass type is incorporated with uPVC frames, it enhances the aesthetic appeal of the space by adding a stylish and contemporary touch to the indoors.
Unlike the conventional wooden or steel doors and windows, laminated glass doors and windows allow sufficient light indoors and maintain peace and serenity of the office space.
In short, if you are looking for a multifunctional and economical option to reduce noise pollution at the office, installing sound proof glass is the ideal decision.
