Acoustic Insulation Software

Different glass configurations provide different degrees of acoustic insulation from external sounds. The software is able to calculate the the acoustic insulation provided by a particular glass type and configuration. The configurations are for single glazing with different thickness, insulated glass units with different thickness, and PVB laminated glass with different thick nesses.

Acoustical Performance
In a fast urbanizing society sound is one of the most significant causes of stress and fatigue. Many new buildings are using glass extensively, and many without any consideration to how well a glass facade will block sound. Acoustic insulation for a material is described by a term called Sound Transmission Loss (STL) or Rw. The Acoustics Module provides the user with STL at different frequencies for the selected glass type and thickness. It also plots a graph that shows the response of a pane of glass for the entire audible frequency range.
